The Convention People’s Party has applauded the reaction of the Public Relations Officer of the Presbyterian Church to assertions by the General Secretary of the NDC that the church was doing the bidding of the opposition.
The General Secretary of the NDC, Asiedu Nketia, made the accusation after the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana said the timing for the creation of the 45 constituencies was wrong and could mar the beauty of the upcoming elections.
Asiedu Nketia’s comments drew a sharp response from the Public Relations Officer of the Church who said that Asiedu Nketia’s statements might have been made under the influence of alcohol.
The PRO subsequently apologized to the NDC and Asiedu Nketia for his comment.
However in a statement signed by the Communications Director of the CPP, Nii Armah Akomfra , says the PRO of the Presbyterian Church’s reaction should be applauded.
Nii Armah Akomfrah also called on the NDC to desist from condemning Religious leaders for exercising their right to free speech.
