Some Ghanaians are yet to check their names in the biometric voter’s register as the 10 days exhibition exercise ends on Monday.
A visit by gold news team to some exhibition centers in the Greater Accra region indicate that the exhibition exercise which begun on the 1st of September is yet to record about 50 percent turnouts as the exercise ends today.
One of the exhibition officers at the center spot polling center in the Ledzokuku constituency, Nii Laryea attributed the low turnout to the introduction of the short code by the Electoral Commission (EC) for people unable to visit the centers.
Meanwhile some Ghanaians have confirmed to Gold News that they are yet to check their names in the voter register.
Christian Owusu Parry, the acting Director of Public Affairs at the Electoral Commission noted that the commission will do a comprehensive assessment of the outcome of the exercise to ascertain the number of voters who checked their details.
He also intimated that the major challenge the EC faces in an election year is that voters are reluctant to go to the exhibition centres to check their details.
Christian Owusu Parry further implored any Ghanaian who is yet to check his or her name in the register to do so before 6pm today.
