The National Secretary of the Progressive People’s Party Kofi Asamoah-Siaw is entreating the media to assist the Electoral Commission to revoke the licenses of under performing political parties.
This he says is the only way to ensure the media does not suffer unjustified criticism of biased coverage of political activities.
He said “the media has the responsibility to mirror what is happening in the society. The media should be able to inform the EC to do an auditing of political parties and revoke the licenses of those who do not meet the requirements of the Political Party Act.
Kofi Asamoah-Siaw also called on President John Mahama to ensure that key constitutional provisions pertaining to the media are enforced to the latter if the unity he preaches is to be attained.
He also said President Mahama should ensure that the 2012 elections are successful noting that “President Mahama is not the President for only the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the Progressive People’s Party (PPP). He is the President of the Republic of Ghana”.
