The Greater Accra Regional Co-ordinating Council in collaboration with the regional health service will distribute two million long lasting Insecticide Treated mosquito nets to residents in Accra.
The distribution of the Insecticide Treated Nets will commence on the 10th of September 2012.
Dr. Edward Antwi, Greater Accra Deputy Director for Public Health made this known in an interview with Gold News and said the distribution excludes unregistered residents.
He said the move by the Coordinating Council and the Regional Health Service is part of strategies to reduce malaria in communities in the capital.
He noted that Volunteers will visit homes to distribute the nets and help residents to hang the nets.
Dr. Edward Antwi also said the homes in the capital will be registered in order to make the work of the volunteers effective.
