President Mahama declares Friday August 10 a public holiday


The President, John Dramani Mahama has signed an executive instrument to declare the burial day of the late President Prof. Mills a public holiday.

He said the Holiday will afford Ghanaians the opportunity to suitably mourn the passing of the late president Mills.

President Mahama has also directed that the late president be buried at the Geese Park; off the 29 castle drive.

The president said this when the leadership of the assemblies of God church paid a courtesy call on him to commiserate with the president and the family of the late president Mills at the castle in Osu on Friday.

He called on Ghanaians to desist from exerting their energies on needless arguments and focus on serious national issues.

President Mahama also said he will work to ensure decency and dignity in the country’s political arena.

In his address, the General superintendant of the Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Dr. Paul Frimpong Manso urged the media to be circumspect in their reportage and highlight the positive developments in the country.

Meanwhile President Mahama will be receiving delegations from MUSIGHA, the sports fraternity and five regional houses of chiefs as part of his itinerary today.
