The Funeral Planning Committee has agreed to bury the late President Mills at a location between the castle and the marine drive at Osu.
This agreement was reached after days of consultation between the committee, the family of the president and some stakeholders with support from the president of the Republic of Ghana, President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking on Gold Power Drive on Friday, a Deputy Minister of Information, James Agyenim Boateng disclosed that the said location will be used permanently for a presidential cemetery where the late president will be laid to rest.
He also indicated that the presidential cemetery will subsequently be developed into a presidential mausoleum.
Deputy Minister of Information, James Agyenim Boateng also added that various sub-committees have been set up to cater for the planning of the funeral of the late president adding that “the ground and logistics committee will prepare the place for the burial of the president”.
He further dismissed media reports that the president will be buried twice, that is, in Accra and his hometown.
