Prof. Abakah advices students at May's Educational Centre's graduation ceremony

Professor Emmanuel Abakah, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), this weekend called on students to eschew laziness and apathy in their academic work.

He appealed to them to work hard to cultivate honesty, humility, genuine love as well as respect for the elderly if they are to make a positive contribution in society.

Prof Abakah was speaking at the 19th Graduation ceremony organized by the management of Mays Day Care and Educational Centre (MDCEC) in Accra.

He asked the graduating students to serve as shinning and exemplary ambassadors for the school in all their future endeavours.

The colourful ceremony, which saw the 14 Junior High School graduands donning the traditional kente cloth with preschoolers performing poetry recitations and a drama sketch, drew spontaneous applause from friends and parents that graced the occasion with their presence.

Some students, teaching and non-teaching staff who had distinguished themselves in academic and other areas of service during the academic year, were also honoured.

Mrs Efua Bram Larbi, Director of MDCEC, said her management’s 10-year strategic plan for the educational centre includes building a hostel facility for student teachers of the Diploma in Early Childhood Education program which the school had been running for some years.

This program was as a result of the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the MDCEC and the UEW on June 8, 2011 to offer undergraduate programmes to award Diploma and Certificates in Early Childhood Education.

Mrs. Efua Bram-Larbi said the computer laboratory and the football field were soon to be upgraded whiles another classroom block had been earmarked to be constructed.

MDCEC, is a private educational centre which started its operations in September 1989 with the aim of providing quality holistic education to enable learners to uphold high ethical, moral and academic standards.

The institute provides professional training and learning in friendly environment using multi-audio-visual equipments to improve pupils’ alertness, memory and interactive skills.
