Deputy Coordinator of the National Youth Employment Program (NYEP) Prince-Derek Adjei has added his voice to the creation of 45 new constituencies by the Electoral Commission in line with its responsibility of ensuring that the people are represented in parliament.
Speaking on Radio Gold’s current affairs program Alhaji and Alhaji , he noted that “the EC as an independent body has the mandate to create constituencies for the 42 new districts to have representatives in parliament and has done the right thing”.
Earlier this week in parliament, the minority side of the house objected to the EC’s decision saying it is unconstitutional. Prince-Derek Adjei noted that “indeed if the NPP thought that the creation of constituencies during their time was wrong then it is wrong today”.
“If they think it was right then it is indeed right in the case of the NDC”. He said.
He further made known that “the NPP’s double standards will not permit them to tell the truth adding that “unless they are in power and will benefit from a particular policy, then nothing is good in their assessment”.
